Photography in 2008

Since I moved to New York, I haven’t been taking as many photographs, even though New York City is probably the best place in America for urban photography. I started out the new year on the right foot in this regard with a trip to the Chicago Botanic Garden (not with *urban* photography obviously; just taking more photographs in general).

I stopped taking photographs because I got tired of lugging around my digital SLR with the huge 28-75mm f/2.8 lens attached to it. Unfortunately, my only other lens is a 50mm f/1.8, which is a great lens and is what I used for my photos today; however, it sucks for taking photos of friends in tight quarters (as is often the case in New York City) because it’s not wide enough. Maybe I’ll get a prime 24mm or 28mm lens sometime this year.
