Virginia = The South?

I consider Virginia part of “The South”. I know this upsets some Virginians who want to distance themselves from your stereotypical backwards southerners. I only have one word to prove that Virginia is part of “The South”: Huckabee.

(I hope I can add an update to this post later tonight to proclaim that Virginians have proven themselves to not be the southerners I thought they were but it’s really close right now.)

UPDATE: The Virginians have proven themselves to be more enlightened than I anticipated. I may still consider you guys southerners but you are not the same kind of southerners as those in Arkansas or Alabama.

    Haahaa. My voting experience suggests otherwise. ;) I’m pretty sure I was the only one in line that even asked for a Republican ticket. (VA is an open state.) Also sure McCain will win but Huckabee’s turnout surprised me, too.

    In all seriousness, VA is much like IL. Northern Virginia pulls the rest of the state like Chicago pulls Illinois. But it’s still south of the Mason-Dixion line, for sure.

    if it’s below the Mason-Dixon line, it’s officially the South.
