Growing in faith in London

Living in London for the past few months and being a part of Holy Trinity Brompton has been a rejuvinating experience for me. My spiritual journey during the past five years or so has been rough. It’s been really good attending a church that is the perfect church for me in a lot of ways.

I’ve realized I need my church to be an experiential church–one that recognizes that spirituality is real; that it is something we can touch and feel and is more than an intellectual exercise. That we can know God, not just know about God–and that there is a difference between the two.

I need my church to be one that prioritizes putting faith into action rather than simply putting faith into our minds and wrapping it in complex theological constructs. Having a better understanding of theology is less likely to make me a better Christian than being challenged to act on the simple truths I already know.

I hope I can find some way to continue to be sustained in these ways when I’m back in New York.
